Not only will you gain industry recognised qualifications, you will build out a logbook full of proven experience both as a group, solo and guiding, a logbook is pivotal to you getting your dream job as an outdoor adventure guide.

Pure Exploration certificate

Our Pure Exploration Certificate of Adventure Guiding is designed to showcase the skills you have learned and the level of which you will be capable to guide. It will display both the practical skills and personal skills you have gained on program. The certificate will show that you have received training to the New Zealand Outdoor Instructor Association (NZOIA) standard. You will be able to use this certificate alongside a reference from Pure Exploration when applying for future jobs in the outdoor industry.

NZOIA Qualifications

New Zealand Outdoor Instructor Association (NZOIA) has developed outdoor instructing and guiding in New Zealand into a profession. The qualifications recognise your performance and reflect the minimum requirements for you to lead, instruct or guide others, in a given activity or environment. NZOIA is recognised throughout New Zealand as the industry standard and can be transferred to similar qualifications in other locations.

Logbook

A logbook is one of the most vital tools when looking for your next job in the outdoor industry. You will learn how to document personal hiking/rock climbing days and log your instructor days which demonstrates to future employers that you have the right experience required to work as a guide or instructor. Your logbook will showcase the locations, trails, crags and places you have been to during the program.

Outdoor First Aid

On many of our course you will gain an advanced outdoor first-aid certification. These courses are a combination of comprehensive first aid alongside emergency care management. Including basic first aid such as CPR, trauma and poisoning as well as to how to provide, assess, and manage extended periods of first aid in outdoor recreation environments.

Swift Water Rescue

Learn important swift water rescue techniques and leave with a valid certification on our New Zealand and Nepal programs. Finishing the program with an Outdoor River Safety Certification - including developing skills on river crossing skills for tramping, river running considerations, conditional rescues and water risk assessments.
