At the Lampang crag (Northern Thailand’s newest climbing location), an introduction to rock climbing, equipment, top rope and lead climbing will allow you to start gaining skills in this awesome sport. Your stay in Lampang will be hosted by a wonderful Thai family who has created an expansive permaculture farm nearby to the crag. At this stay, you will also have the opportunity to learn more about permaculture, sustainable farming techniques and local food products. This is a great trial run for those of you who may be considering getting into the adventure tourism industry as a climbing guide. You’ll get a real experience of what it feels like to assess weather, assess client abilities and make their day as fun and informative as possible.
Day 36-37 Rest day in Chiang Mai
WEEK 6: ASSESSMENTS & PROGRAM WRAP!
Day 38-41 Assessment Days
The final piece in the program puzzle is here - time to begin your assessments with a certified assessor. If successful, you will pass your NZOIA Rock 1 certification. We have found with most of our previous Adventure Guide Programs that students have found they are MORE than prepared for these assessments, as long as they did the work required throughout the program. Some said it was a very satisfying feeling knowing they not only could answer what was asked of them, but they in fact knew well beyond the level tested, so left the program feeling confident of their skills and happy to use them moving forward.
On completion of your assessments there will be some super fun wrap up sessions with the team, a suitably celebratory farewell for all your new best mates as you head back to different corners of the globe. Many students tie this program in with further global travel, perhaps down into Australia or New Zealand, or around other beautiful locations in South East Asia.
We also have a 12-week Adventure Guide Program comprised of this 6 week Rock Leader Thai Program AND another 6 weeks focused on Hiking in Nepal. You can find out more about that by emailing our team.
If you enjoy your time on program and would like to extend to the 12 week, you can always reach out to your Program Advisor to explore this option further.
This is a sample itinerary. Modules may occur in a different order due to weather conditions or scheduling requirements
